It is critical for both your General Store data and any credit card operations that your internal network be secure. General Store Technical Support can assist you with basic networking, however, it is the end user's responsibility to secure the network from outside intrusion.
If you are installing to a Windows Server product, you should take the following steps:
Windows Server (all versions)
Share the appropriate resource (For The General Store (share only the Genstore directory)
Create a Security User Group called Genstore
Give this Group full share permissions to the shared resource for The General Store
Create your individual users. The User Name must be the same login name for each computer on the network.
Add these users to the Genstore group
In addition to giving your group Share permission, you must also assign the group full Security permissions to the share.
