The tools menu gives users the ability to run certain specified utilities on data.
The Tools menu should appear on the main screen of The General Store. If it does not, you can add it:
Close The General Store.
Open Windows Notepad (Start > Programs > Accessories > Notepad)
On the first line, type this exactly: Month To Date Cash Drawer, mthcds.dll, mthcds
Click File > Save as...
Navigate to the c:\Genstore\TGSData folder
In the "Filename..." field, enter this exactly: "function.win" (Note: the quotes are required)
Close Notepad, open The General Store. You should have a "Tools" entry on the main screen.
Utilities can be added to the Tools menu following the format in #3 above.
While the Tools menu still provides a 'shortcut' version of running utilities, The General Store now provides a more specific utility application.
Open General Store Back Office
Click on: Controls
Click on: Execute DLL/EXE
Enter the name of the utility to run (you must include the file extension - .dll or .exe) or click on the Browse button to locate it in the \Genstore\TGSApps folder
Click Execute Process
We strongly recommend adding security to your software that will prevent users from accidentally accessing both the Tools Menu and the Controls Menu
