Filesave Utility

The "Filesave" utility in included with The General Store for Windows as a method of correcting most file structure issues.  Filesave should not be used as a regular method of maintenance.

The Filesave function is found under:

Start > All Programs (or Apps) > The General Store > Utilities > Filesave Utility

  1. Filesave should only be run on the server computer in your network

  2. All workstations must have exited The General Store prior to opening the utility (failure to follow this can result in data corruption)

  3. Filesave can only be performed on one file at a time

  4. You must ensure the utility is "pointed" to the correct data folder (TGSData).  In the uppermost filesave window, double click on the TGSData folder

  5. Click the number of the file you wish to recover, then, click Recover

  6. Error 25 indicates you are either:

  1. Not in the correct data folder

  2. Another workstation has opened The General Store

  1. The blue progress bar may appear to "stall".  This occurs because the system may move faster than the progress bar can actually track.  If there are no numbers scrolling in the bottom left of the Filesave box, and the blue progress bar is stopped, the utility has completed it's work on that file.

  2. In most instances, recovering only one data file will not correct the errors since data is interleaved between files.  You should perform the Filesave utility on every file related to your issue

  3. After using the Filesave utility, you should run the Keyword utility.
